We are an informal ladies’ group, made up from ladies who live in Alburgh and the surrounding villages. The group started on Tuesday 9th. February 1982, and we have been meeting monthly since then, enjoying outings, speakers, cooking shared meals, the theatre and cinema, social evenings, and each other’s company! This year we have been to Bungay cinema, shared a Spanish tapas meal, which we cooked, and in April had a guided tour of Wymondham Abbey, followed by a pub lunch. We visited the Great Hospital in Norwich, enjoyed a guided walk round historic Harleston, shared a picnic at Southwold before going to the theatre there and in August swam in Lesley’s pool, then were treated to a sausage and mash supper. In September we went for a long early evening walk together, saw ‘Jane Eyre’ at the cinema in October, we drove to an antique dealers in Eye for a talk about English furniture and in December we will go to a restaurant for an evening meal. In January we plan our year and generally one person organises one event, with a helper if necessary.
We have a treasurer for our very small funds, and one person who reports on events and writes up the year’s programme.
